LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

Donna Balin

Greetings Amazing Women!

Summer is indeed upon us and nearly over. I hope that you are having an enjoyable summer, one that is filled with wonderful memories to be cherished forever.

Rest is not idleness, and to lie sometimes on the grass on a summer day listening to the murmur of water, or watching the clouds float across the sky, is hardly a waste of time.
- John Lubbock

TEW worker bees continue to swarm! We are proudly starting to see the fruits of their labor. The 2004 Women on the Move® have been selected and you will be extremely pleased to meet the group. Many, many thanks to those that were instrumental in selecting and holding the interviews and seeing the process through!

Our bylaws and standing rules have been updated with a few recommended changes. You should have received an email requesting your review and vote. Please, please take time to do so. We would greatly appreciate your input and need your vote.

We are elated to announce that we granted $20,000, in addition to the $20,000 for our own mentoring scholarships, to various organizations that you sent in for consideration. The recipient organizations are as follow:

  • The Butterfly Project, mentoring program for high school girls
  • The Pink Ribbon House, Breast Cancer Research at Baylor College of Medicine
  • Pathway to Career Advancement, health care job placement assistance program for women
  • The Women’s Home, vocational planning
  • What about Me? Girl Scout’s program, mother/daughter educational program
  • San Jose Clinic, well-woman healthcare

Once again…calling all former Women on the Move®, as you know this is our 20th year anniversary so we are having a special Reunion Dinner! We are putting together tables with your class and would like your participation. Please contact Margo Snider to confirm your attendance. This will be an event that you will not want to miss! The event will be held on Tuesday, September 28th at Damian’s downtown.

As the end of the year approaches, we are looking for new worker bees for the board. Bonnie Berube is our incoming President and is seeking eager individuals to carry the torch. Please contact myself or Bonnie if you are interested in becoming involved.

Enjoy the rest of your summer and I am looking forward to seeing you at the next meeting!

Sincerely,
