LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

Donna Balin

Happy Happy New Year! I am most elated and honored to serve as your President this year. Thank you again for putting your faith and confidence in me to represent such an awe-inspiring organization and group of women.

Well, the year is underway and off to an exciting start! This is a big year for TEW and Women on The Move®. We will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of Women on the Move®! This will be a year that we will reflect back and remember all of the astounding women who have been honored, and the countless young ladies who have been mentored and encouraged into success.

With the help of Women on the Move®, we were able to achieve these endeavors and fulfill our mission as an organization. Our Vice President of WOM, Vickie McClain and her committee have some spectacular ideas planned to celebrate our success and major milestone. We will keep you abreast of the events to come because you will not want to miss out on such a glorious tribute.

I am excited to report that we had a very productive board meeting this month. The room was filled with great ideas and creativity. It is with great pleasure that I have the opportunity to work with such an incredible group of women. I am so anxious to see the results of all the wonderful things that are to come.

We have a magnificent program scheduled for next month. Meet and learn about the inspiring story of our very own Barbara Halstead and her personal experience in the Middle East. We will also be honoring a very important person to TEW for the countless hours and relentless effort she has given TEW over the years. You should make every effort to attend and be part of this celebration. Furthermore, the Vice President Chairs will be introducing their committees and explaining how you can become involved. There are so many rewarding opportunities within TEW, and I wholeheartedly encourage you to participate.

With all the great things happening, how could you not want to get involved?
Now is the time to be part of something big!

A FEW WORDS FROM JACKIE GREER

"There are no words to describe this feeling until I can talk about the Mentoring Program in our Aldine School District, even then a true description is difficult, for it is so wonderful, she continues.                Read full story...

MEET THE NEW MEMBER: SALLY SHAW

In March of 2000, Sally Shaw's father was flown by LifeFlight to the Texas Medical Center for emergency surgery and remained there for three months. At that same time, Sally's employer announced it was relocating its corporate offices to Bethesda, Maryland. Sally declined the offer to relocate and, after her father's death in June, decided it was time for a career change too.
