LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT
The school year is ending and the mentoring programs at Westbury, Galveston and Aldine schools are having the end-of-year programs. A committee of TEW members has selected the Jackie Greer Scholarship recipients. Beth Ann Scher is serving as Vice President of Mentoring. Linda Holt, Carolyn Wyly and Margo Snider are doing great jobs in leading these programs. In addition, members of TEW have assisted by leading career tours, speaking to the groups and participating with the students. Several years ago I took a group of students from the Aldine program to the Harris County Coroner's facilities. I met some great students and was pleased to see that several of them have been awarded scholarships. The TEW mentoring program is an example of “We must not only give what we have; we must also give what we are . ” (Desire-Joseph Mercier) . If you want to get involved with the mentoring programs, please contact Beth Ann Scher. Women of the Move® applications are available and Margo Snider has sent a letter to the membership regarding the application and the luncheon. We need table sales, sponsorships, and applicants. In addition, each member of TEW needs to support the effort. Our mentoring programs, scholarships and awards to organizations supporting women will continue to grow with the funds raised from the luncheon. Sheridan Scott is planning a great social for the month of July. The board is also in the process of planning a fundraiser for the month of August. Details for both events will be available soon. The member that brings the most guests for the year 2005 will receive free dues for the year 2006. Several printers have been donated to the mentoring programs, but there are about 16 needed. Remember to use the programs at Randalls and Kroger when you buy groceries. A portion of the sales are returned to TEW. I hope to see each of you at the May meeting.

TEW MENTORING PROGRAM
Carolyn Wyly knocked herself out with a beautiful presentation piece on the Career Tours enjoyed by the Westbury High School group. It's a PDF file, so it's a quick load -- and worth a few minutes of your time to see how TEW members are making such important contributions of their time and experience. See it here: Westbury Career Tours. More on the Westbury group... Thirty-five Career Women of the Future students,
five TEW mentors and the three HISD teachers of the Westbury Mentoring Program
had their end of school recognition luncheon at the Four Seasons Hotel..
The students have soaked in the advice in this year's programs, as was evidenced
by how professionally they all dressed for the luncheon. TEW's Annie
Cater once again generously gave of her time and expertise, while entertaining
us all with table etiquette lessons.
