LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT
November President's Message Orange you going to ask me what I'm most thankful for? Well, of course, I'm thankful for all those stereotypical things everyone else lists…family, faith, health, fellowship, country, material blessings, successful careers etc. But let's zero in on one obvious, yet unsung, element of the season…the color orange Orange is a combination of yellow and red and is considered an energetic color. It calls to mind feelings of excitement, enthusiasm and warmth. Orange is often used to draw attention, such as in traffic signs and cones and advertising. Remember day-glo orange? I'm thankful for orange and all it brings to mind…such as citrus fruits and their tart, sweet juices and fragrant rinds. But there's oh so much more in store in the Fall of the year that exemplifies orange…like churchyards filled with pumpkins for children to carve into scary things….like leaves in need of raking…like football jerseys on the gridiron and the Orange Bowl game…like yams beside the turkey on Thanksgiving Day or butternut squash made into soup. And how about those Monarch butterflies that migrate and visit us? We all recall inspiring sunrises and glorious sunsets. Additionally, let us not forgot those wonderful flames in the fireplace during the holidays and comforting campfires, especially during scout camp or deer season. Too, there are geographic and political references to orange in the names of cities, counties and states. And most of us haven't forgotten the Gulf Oil and 76 symbols either. So as we admire the mums blooming on the landscape during this perfect period of the year, let us give thanks that the creator gave us orange to gladden our hearts from the time we were NeHi to a grasshopper. TEW MENTORING PROGRAM
The Ladies of Distinction had a busy October! They heard from an author and speaker Suzanne Reynolds, who gave the girls her insight and techniques that will assure their college essays and applications get noticed and get results. They also attended the Women On The Move Luncheon, after which they sat down to write "thank you" letters. See how much fun they had by clicking here.
